Valhalla:  in Scandinavian folk tales and legends it is the hall of the gods! Well, if any cat deserves a special place in the afterlife this is the place they should go.  Here I honor the memories of some very special cats who have left our side and gone on to Valhalla before us.  Thank you for taking the time to visit and honor these beautiful cats!  They continue to be loved and will always be missed by those who knew them.  I honor here not only our own personal kitty friends but also those of others who have brought cats from our house into their household and loved them so much.    A favorite poem of mine is titled  "The Rainbow Bridge"  and it has comforted many people over the years who have lost their furry friends.  Please click here to read the poem.

Mary C. Buckmaster
Co-founder of Nissekatt Cattery

Mary was many things to me: friend, partner, mentor.  She started breeding Maine Coon Cats in the mid-1970's under the name of MaryB's cattery and we partnered up under Nissekatt cattery in 1982.  We continued to breed cats under Nissekatt until Mary's death in 1991.  Her spirit and sense of fair play and ethics lives on today.  She has influenced many breeders of both Norwegian Forest Cats and Maine Coons over the years and was an inspiration to all who knew her.  She will always be in our hearts.  We were lucky to have called her our friend. NIssekatt Tundar went to Valhalla in 1993.

Date of Birth: 10/22/1993
Passed into Valhalla in June 2003
Lucky came to us in January of 1994 from Finland.  He is a brown tabby male who truly shows how closely related the Norwegian Forest Cat is to the Manx.  He had to have his tail amputated from a non-cancerous growth!  He retired from breeding in 2001

Ollie was the last son of Prince Charles ur Skogi and with him passed a legacy in Norwegian Forest Cat history.  In the end his liver was failed and we did what had to be done.  We miss him but the Hall of the Gods are richer for his being there.
